Judge orders men to ‘sort it out’ as tensions mount between them

Following the appearance of a 26-year-old Castlebar man at Castlebar District Court this week for a public order charge and assaulting two others, Judge Mary Devins urged that the two men should sort out the matter in an expeditious manner so that tensions would not escalate.

Castlebar Town Council agrees new bond levies for developers

Members of Castlebar Town Council voted by five votes to two on Tuesday night to fix a development bond on new housing developments in the town. The new bond will see developers having to lodge a bond of €6,000 per house on developments of up to 10 houses, €5,000 per house on developments of between 11 and 30 houses (a minimum bond of €60,000 must be lodged) and bond of €4,000 per house on developments over 31 houses (a minimum of €150,000 must be lodged).

Nigerian woman with no documentation remanded until December

A 22-year-old Nigerian woman was remanded in custody until December 3 while the Gardai and other authorities try to establish who she is and the action the state will take.
